When housekeeping and the front desk disagree
The discrepancy report lists rooms where the two views differ. Check those rooms first.
Housekeeping reports what they found; the front desk holds what the system believes. When the two differ, the discrepancy report names the rooms.

Do this
- Room discrepancies appears above the sheet only when there are some: rooms where what housekeeping found disagrees with what the front desk holds — a *skip* (the desk says occupied, the room is empty) or a *sleep* (the desk says vacant, somebody is in it).
- Status on the sheet is housekeeping's word; the desk's is the chart.
- Settle each one by reporting the room again once somebody has looked, or by correcting the booking. The night audit counts them and will not let them hide.
The two that matter:
- Occupied on the system, found empty. Either the guest has gone without checking out — so the room is sellable and is not being sold — or somebody checked in the wrong room.
- Vacant on the system, found occupied. Somebody is in a room nobody is charging for. This is the expensive one.
Check these before the night audit, not after. The audit posts room charges from what the system believes, so a discrepancy left overnight becomes a wrong charge on a real folio and a wrong occupancy figure in the month.
