When the system refuses

The rate comes from somewhere you cannot type over

A contract or a channel set this price. That is the system protecting an agreement.

The price on this booking was not set at the desk and cannot be changed at the desk.

A rate contract — a company or agent with a negotiated rate. Typing over it would bill the company something they did not agree to, and the invoice would not match their contract.
A channel — the booking arrived from an OTA at the price it was sold. Changing it here puts the hotel and the channel out of step, and the guest holds a confirmation with the other number on it.

What can be done:

Post a charge or an allowance on the folio if the amount genuinely needs adjusting — visible, with a reason, rather than a silently different rate.
Change the contract if the negotiated rate is out of date. That is an administrator's job and it applies going forward.
"nightly rate must be ..." is a different thing: the number typed is not a valid amount. Whole rupees, more than nothing.
