Setting a hotel up

Setting the restaurant up, in the order it has to be done

GST groups and stations before dishes, dishes before tables. Backwards means rebuilding the menu.

The order is not a suggestion. A dish cannot be saved without a tax group and a kitchen station, and a table cannot take an order before there is a menu. Doing it backwards means rebuilding the menu, which is an evening nobody enjoys.

  1. The outlet — one place that sells food: the restaurant, the bar, the coffee shop, room service. Each has its own menu, tables, prices and operating day. A restaurant with no hotel is an ordinary customer of this system; it simply has no rooms to charge meals to.
  2. GST groups — a rate and a name. Every dish carries one, and tax on a bill is worked out from the group, never typed. Restaurant food is not taxed at room slabs; set the rate from your own registration.
  3. Kitchen stations — the places a ticket can print. Every dish names one, so Fire KOT splits an order into the tickets each station needs.
  4. The menu — categories, then dishes, then a price for every size.
  5. Tables — a number or name, a section, and how many it seats.

Budget about an hour, most of it the menu.
