Moving a room to another category, and what is waiting on you

A room can change category even with bookings ahead of it. Each of those bookings waits for a manager: upgrade it free, upgrade and charge, or release the room.

Menu → Setup → Rooms has four tabs: By category, All rooms, Assign rooms and Waiting on you.

Assign rooms

Rooms that belong to no category are listed with a count (*N unassigned*). Tick them, choose the category and press Assign ticked rooms.

Moving a room to another category

Open the room → Recategorise, pick the category (or *— no category at all —*) and Move it. The move applies from the business date: nights already past keep the old category, so old reports do not change.

The bookings already on that room

They keep the room and what they bought. Each one is put on Waiting on you, and a manager presses Decide this one:

Upgrade to …, complimentary — the guest keeps the room at the price they booked.
Upgrade and charge — the new category's nightly figure is shown; the difference is charged.
Release the room — the booking keeps its category and becomes a booking with no room yet, to be given another. A guest in house cannot be released.
