Reading the calendar
Rooms down the side, dates across the top, and four things worth knowing about the colours.
The calendar is one hotel and one month: rooms down the left, dates across the top, a bar for every booking.
- Click a bar to open the booking. Click an empty square to start a booking in that room on that date.
- Drag a bar to another room to move the guest. It asks for a reason, and refuses if the new room is not free or not clean — see Moving a guest to another room.
- The arrows beside the month move a month at a time. The property dropdown in the header changes hotel.
Three panels sit above the chart and are worth reading every morning:
- Takings today — what has actually been collected on the operating date.
- Arrivals at risk — today's arrivals with nothing guaranteeing them: no advance, no card, no confirmed hold. These are the ones that do not turn up.
- Money owed / Open balances — folios carrying a balance, with the ones that need a person marked. The count is the red dot on the Menu button.
The chart shows what is booked. What is *sellable* is a different question — a room can be free and still unsellable because the rate sheet does not reach that far. See Rates run out.
