Blocking a room from the chart

Right-click a room, say why, from which night to which, and who is blocking it. The channel is told; the chart draws it; a booking into it is refused.

A room that must not be sold for some nights — a leak, a repaint, the owner keeping it for a relative — is blocked from the chart. Blocking is not taking the room out of inventory (that is on the Rooms screen and is for good), and it is not a booking (nobody is sleeping there).

Right-click on a room's number: the menu offers Book a room, Block a room and the Blocked rooms log.

Do this

  1. Right-click the room's row — its number, or any empty night.
  2. Choose Block a room. The other choice, Book a room, starts a booking on that night.
  3. Blocked rooms log is on the same menu, for every block the hotel has made.
The Block a room dialog: the nights, the purpose, who is blocking it, and the button.
The Block a room dialog: the nights, the purpose, who is blocking it, and the button.
  1. First and last night. The room is off sale for those nights and back on sale the morning after the last one.
  2. Purpose — from your hotel's out-of-order list (Under maintenance, Deep cleaning, Renovation, …) or *Other…* with your own words.
  3. Blocked by is pre-filled with your name. Type over it when the block is the engineer's or the owner's: the log records the person who asked for it *and* the login that entered it, separately.
  4. Block the room. The dialog says whether the channel manager is being told ("axisrooms is being told now") or that no channel is connected.

What the chart shows

A blocked room on the chart, and the menu on it: the dates, the purpose and the person, and Open the room.
A blocked room on the chart, and the menu on it: the dates, the purpose and the person, and Open the room.
  1. The block is a hatched grey bar with ✕ and the purpose. That cell no longer opens the booking dialog.
  2. Right-click it and the menu's heading says the **dates, the purpose and who asked for it**.
  3. Open the room ends the block early. The nights go back on sale and the channel is told again.

The log

The Blocked rooms log: room, nights, purpose, who asked, who recorded it, and whether it is upcoming, current or released.
The Blocked rooms log: room, nights, purpose, who asked, who recorded it, and whether it is upcoming, current or released.

Every block the hotel has made, newest first — who asked for it, the login that recorded it, and who opened the room again and when. Nothing is deleted from it.

What it refuses

Who can do this

Anybody at the desk. A closure made on the Rooms screen shows on the chart too, with its reason and nobody named.
