Holding a room, and the guest pay link
A time-boxed hold with a link the guest can pay on. It releases itself if they do not.
A hold is a room kept for somebody who has not paid yet, with an expiry. Hold room on the booking card, or Hold this room from an empty square.
How it goes:
- Choose how long — the durations offered are your hotel's. The hold expires at that moment, not "some time later".
- The system produces a link for the guest. Send it: the message dialog will open WhatsApp with the text ready, or you can copy it. There is no mail sender in the product, so nothing is sent automatically — a person sends it.
- The guest opens the link and sees the room, the dates, the amount and the deadline. They pay, or they do not.
- If the deadline passes, a sweeper releases the room automatically. Nobody has to remember.
Worth knowing:
- The link is the credential. Anyone holding it can see that one booking — nothing else about the hotel — so treat it as you would a booking reference.
- "That link is not live" covers three cases with one sentence: unknown, already used, and lapsed. It says the same thing for all three on purpose. Issue a fresh hold.
- You can release a hold by hand before it expires, and confirm one at the desk if the guest pays you directly.
