Closing the day: by itself, or by a person
Each hotel chooses whether its day closes by itself at an hour, or when a person runs the night audit — and who may do it. Until it is closed, check-in waits.
Every hotel's day has to be closed — the night audit — before the next one can be traded. Each hotel decides how.
Menu → Setup → Hotel details, the hotel, then:
- The day closes — *by itself* or *when a person closes it*.
- …at — the hour it closes by itself. Set it early enough to be finished before your first arrival: a hotel expecting guests at six sets three. Left blank, the system's own hour applies.
- Front office may close the day — *no — a manager*, or yes.
Only an administrator changes these.
When the day is over and nobody has closed it
A hotel whose day closes by a person will, one morning, find nobody did. The day is then over but not closed: Today says so, and check-in waits. Checking a guest in on a day that has already ended would put their first night on the wrong date. The desk sees:
The night audit for 25 Sep 2026 has not been run, so the hotel is still on
that date. BK-1234 would be checked in on a day that is already over. Close
the day first.
followed by Close the day now and check in? If your login may close the day, OK runs the audit and checks the guest in. If not, fetch the manager.
There is no automatic backstop for a hotel set to *when a person closes it*: that is the hotel's decision, and the reason Today shows the state of the day first.
